Trousseau, Davis Cup and Rolex Frattina

maria_esther_bueno_alexferro.07052015-7689-editar_2Over last weekend, Maria Esther Bueno dropped in on the Masters of the Trousseau Tennis Cup, the culmination of a year-long tournament at the Sociade Harmonia de Tenis, her home club in São Paulo.

The Masters is played among the top 8 players in the points standings over the year, who compete in two groups leading to the final.

There were some great matches and Maria enjoyed her visit.

“The tournament has been going for several years, sponsored by Trousseau, and is very popular with the members,” said Maria.

“They play for points all year and the best get through to the Masters and play over the last weekend in November.

“They have a great time and get very well looked after – t-shirts and prizes and a wonderful dinner at the club!”

Trousseau is a family business, which caters to families, and started out in 1991 when Adriana and Romeu Trussardi Neto opened the first shop on Rua João Cachoeira in São Paulo.

By 2006 Trousseau could be found at 17 different locations around Brazil, with 8 stores in São Paulo, 5 in Rio de Janeiro and 4 in Belo Horizonte.

Twenty-five years later, Trousseau is located in 31 places, including London and Miami.

“It’s always fun watching your friends play matches, and this was no exception!” added Maria.

“I also had a chance to watch some of the Davis Cup Final matches and I must say it was pretty good tennis.

“Congratulations to Great Britain for winning the Davis Cup for the first time since 1936.

“Andy Murray showed amazing commitment all year to his team mates by playing and winning all eight matches he played.

“He also showed what a class act he is when he was mobbed by his teammates after his beating David Goffin in straight sets by stepping aside and going over to the Belgian bench to shake every member and support staff by the hand.

“Only then did he go back to celebrate with his team. A really classy act!”

On Tuesday evening Maria was invited by Rolex Brasil to the official opening of their new store at the Iguatemi Shopping Centre.

Frattina is the official Rolex retailer in Brazil and the partnership has been one of many years.

Rolex and Frattina co-hosted a super party for the inauguration of the new Boutique Rolex, which opened its doors in Iguatemi São Paulo on 1 December at 7pm.

The exclusive guests were received at the store on the second floor for the opening and then moved on to the nearby Piselli Restaurant.

“It was a very fine occasion and I felt very privileged to be there,” said Maria, who is an Ambassador for Rolex Brasil.

“Around forty special guests were invited and I was very pleased to be able to meet many of them, including the big boss of Rolex, Jean-Frederic Dufour, the CEO from Switzerland.”

The new and larger space at the Iguatemi mall  on Faria Lima in São Paulo followed the recent opening of Frattina’s flagship store on Oscar Freire.

The new store is a multi-sensory concept created by architect Roberto Migotto that brings together the modern with the traditional using hand-picked elements and materials.

The space also includes a new VIP lounge to offer a personalised service to loyal customers.

“They have done the store beautifully,” continued Maria.

“And everyone could not have been more hospitable… there was champagne everywhere and delicious canapés.

“It was a lovely evening and I wish them every success with the new store.”

Opened in the 60´s, Iguatemi São Paulo is the first shopping mall built in Brazil.

Since its early days, it was considered a point of reference, as well as an essential destination in the state capital and the preferred site of trendsetters.

It has always been recognised as trendy and a showcase for international fashion with excellent restaurants.

The centre is in the process of being fully renovated and upgraded ahead of its 50th anniversary in 2016.
